This ride is a circular route of about 17 miles crossing high pasture land and including part of Glyndwrs Way. The first stretch is along the road to Pant Y Dwr from where it takes the quiet Bryn Lane, heading up the beautiful Nant Tawelan valley, Passing the ancient oak woodlands of Cefn Cenarth the lane soon atarts to climb towards Gelli Dwyll and some wonderful wild country. Soon the route takes a bridleway across old pastureland, then skirting woodland before arriving at a crossroads. Turning right here it soon passes through a gate and onto open pasture again, with every opportunity for a good canter. Regaining a track near the derelict cottage of Creigiau Llydion it descends to reach the B4518, which is soon crossed, briefly taking a narrow country lane. After crossing the old railway line it goes through the gate into the field, the fording the stream before following the left bank. Here is an ideal picnic spot, befor a very steep climb across fields towards Garth Fach. Following the farm drive, then turning left at the road, then right at the next crossroads Glyndwrs Way is eventually reached. This is then followed, first along a farm drive, then acros fields, eventually arriving at Forestry Commision woodland. The track is well made and obvious throughout, finally arriving at the road and turning left. After about 1/4 mile a poorly maintained bridleway drops away on the right through trees, regaining the road further down. From here it’s a 20 minute ride back to the Mid Wales Bunkhouse along the quiet road.
